Manqoba Mthembu (AYFS Coordinator) and Nomfundo Gcina Mbatha (AYFS Peer Educator) form one of our new teams working on ‘Our Youth, Our Future’ programme. This is their first blog which they have written as they start their work in Zululand where they will be working throughout 2016.

As we travel to the great mountains of Zululand we are looking forward to bringing about change within the communities that we are working in. Over the coming ten months, we will promote an ongoing relationship between CHIVA SA and the staff in five different health facilities across Zululand.

999_IMG_4493The essence of our work among these facilities is to mentor and enable health staff, bring about support and maintain a lifelong partnership. Our experience of working with young people will also help to encourage the youth to seek more services at the clinics. It is with our support that youth voices become louder and more optimistic.

Knowledge becomes power once an individual or group of people acquire it. As we introduce our programme of Adolescents Youth Friendly Services it will make us as a team of CHIVA SA to become stronger and value our role within the clinic/community.
